The Merchant of Venice is a comedy... a love story, with a dark side of anti-Semitism. Portia is the heroine and Shylock is the villain... or is he?
Believed to have been written by Shakespeare between 1596 and 1598, Bedford Dramatic Club follow in the footsteps of director Trevor Nunn by setting the play in 1930's Italy, with period music to help set the mood. The Merchant of Venice is a play deeply rooted in an enduring question - how should justice, mercy and vengeance be balanced?
Tickets for this show are priced at £8.50, with a concession price of £7.00.
Tickets are also available from the Central Box Office in Harpur Street, Bedford, Telephone 01234-718112.
