New writing shaped by you.
Bedford's most popular new writing event has seen writers from Bedford and further afield compete to see their play performed at the festival. From over 50 plays submitted this year, StageWrite will produce four evenings of new writing including comedy and drama on a range of themes. For full details of this years programme, visit www.stagewrite.org.uk.
Plays are rehearsed and performed by professional actors script-in-hand. Audiences quickly forget that they are not seeing a fully staged production and have the opportunity to influence the development of the work though an informal discussion following each performance. Playwrights who have had work presented at previous festivals have gone on to win off-West End awards and one was recently shortlisted for the British Theatre Challenge.
"I wouldn't be achieving what Im doing in theatre without the confidence StageWrite gave me and I know it has that power to do the same over and over again with a whole set of new writers." Andy Maddock
