donut/money is a creative project for 16-25 year olds that will use games to explore the economy: what works, what doesn’t and what we can do to change it.
Through playing games, talking about games and making games the project will look at both how the economy works now, and how the economy could be different.
We’ll start with lots of playing together, using game design to re-imagine existing games. Then as the project continues, we’ll think specifically about the economy as it exists in our lives, contexts and communities and how we might be able to take action to make change there.
The project will build to an ‘action’ where we’ll perhaps run an event,
or a campaign,
or a training,
or a performance,
or an intervention,
or a game… that will be the first step towards the economic change we want to see.
The project will be directed and guided by everyone involved. We will scale things up and down and reshape what we do following what excites us and inspires us.
donut/money is for 16-25 year olds based in and around Bedford and will run from now until early November. Some sessions will be in person at The Place, some will be online. Some sessions are optional, others are core to the project. There is some space to mix and match the projects as suits you. Please find a project timeline below.
There are gender neutral toilets available at The Place.
At offline sessions, food will be provided and local travel expenses can be covered.
We’re running a hello and info session next Wednesday (19th May) at The Place for anyone to drop in and talk about the project, meet us, ask questions, see who else will be in the room.
Come by and say hi 🙂
Please do get in touch if you’d like to talk about travel expenses for next Wednesday’s session.
Please do find a video attached to explain a little more about the project, why we’re running it and what you can expect.
