Award-winning artist and filmmaker Eelyn Lee considers what it means to be British in this timely, multi-faceted study of national identity.

Along with a group of young writers from Sheffield, the film sees Lee go on a quest, exploring issues of identity, race and belonging through poetry, interviews and discussions with Magid Magid, during his tenure as Lord Major of Sheffield; writer Désirée Reynolds; England footballer Kyle Walker and Sheffield’s Poet Laureate Otis Mensah, amongst others. The work was commissioned by the Sheffield charity Football Unites, Racism Divides.

Utilising the open approach to filmmaking she favours, Lee commissioned new work from her collaborators, seeking to make the film’s study of identity a dynamic and collective one, bringing together numerous disparate voices that position ‘Britishness’ as a concept constantly in flux.
