Rita has enrolled on an Open University course to discover herself and better her circumstances. Her tutor is Frank;  a jaded academic and an alcoholic who is less than enthusiastic about taking on an open university student. Yet he’s fascinated by her take on life and realizes she has potential.

An insightful look into the ways that social class and education can shape who we are, and a careful study in the uncertainty of transformation as we go through life wishing for something we don’t have.

Willy Russell’s hysterical, thought-provoking modern classic Educating Rita premiered in 1980 at the RSC and went on to win multiple awards not to mention being adapted for a feature film starring Julie Walters and Michael Caine.

Raising Funds for The Place’s ‘Raise The Roof’ Campaign and starring our very own Matt Baker as Frank and Lissy Malt as Rita.
