The Place is excited to add live music to it’s monthly schedule this July as it invites Mark Hale to lead an afternoon performance with his Quartet. 

Over the last 6 years Mark established a Jazz following in Bedford curating Monday night Jazz at The Bedford Arms/ White Horse and post covid is not planning to ease up bringing the highest quality music to the town. 

On Sunday 25th July Mark will be presenting his newly formed trio featuring Cameron Sheehy on Piano and Asaph Tal on Bass with Special Guest Reiss Beckles on Alto Saxophone. 

 

London based saxophonist, composer and educator. Reiss Ellis Beckles is a young, versatile and diverse artist with a strong background & understanding in many genres of music in particular Jazz, Pop and Hip Hop. Reiss studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire Of Music and Dance and graduated with a degree in Jazz Performance and Composition. 

In 2016, Shortly after graduating from Trinity Laban, Reiss moved to New York where he was accepted to study at The Aaron Copland School Of Music, Queens College where he obtained his Masters In Jazz Performance. Over the course of his studies Reiss cites his most influential teachers as Antonio Hart, Jeb Patton, Martin Speake, David Berkman, Michael Mossman. Over the course of his career Reiss has shared the stage with artists such as Halsey, Jessie J, Robin Thicke, Jimmy Heath, John Faddis and Dennis Mackrel. Reiss has appeared at music venues across the world such as BBC Radio 1, Royal Albert Hall, Smalls Jazz Club, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Vortex Jazz Club, He has also performed at Jazz festivals such as London Jazz Festival(UK), Ealing Jazz Festival(UK), Manchester Jazz Festival(UK) and SildaJazz(Norway)
