Join us on a flavour-packed adventure across Bedford this summer.

Throughout 2024 Tastes Like Home has built up a bank of local stories uncovered through archival research and interviews. Led by Radhika Aggarwal and Alex Levene, Bedford-based creatives have developed, written and recorded stories uncovering and sharing delicious memories of food and drink ingrained in the taste buds of Bedford and its residents.

Now we’re ready to share these morsels with you over a series of Saturdays in June 2024.

This Audio Trail isn't just a quick bite—it's a full meal deal! It'll be active until June 2025 (at least), and to spice things up, WordSetFree is organising three Saturday of guided meetups during June 2024. These will be perfect for anyone who wants help using the technology, and we will have a special headset tour set up for anyone who doesn’t have their own device for the trail. Project team will be on hand at each session to help show you how to use Overhear, should you need support.

Join us for a tasty adventure, learn more about the stories, and let's shine a spotlight on local food-related businesses. Get ready to spice up your calendar!

Tastes Like Home Audio Trail is available to the public through the Overhear mobile app as they walk around the town. Your mobile device will use GPS to trigger each story tied to locations around the town, as you explore you can listen to these stories, all using your own device and headphones.

Tastes Like Home is a co-production between Echo Chamber Audio, a hub for aural storytelling and sound, and Bedford-based WordSetFree, where performance meets spoken word, games, civic engagement, and publishing.

Generously flavoured with funding by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to the awesome National Lottery players, heaped with a generous portion of funding from Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zone for Bedford and topped with a garnish of support from Bedford Creative Arts.
