Can you volunteer your time to support our venue?

The Place relies on our team of volunteers to help keep our small venue running. From Front of House to helping with distributing flyers, any time you can spare to volunteer is much needed.

We have lots of different volunteering opportunities at The Place, from Front of House at one of our evening performances to helping serve teas and coffees to visitors during our day time events, we have something to suit everyone.

As a Volunteer you will be given training and set up on our Rota Central system where you can select the various shifts on offer. In return for your time, you will be part of welcoming and dedicated community and will have the opportunity to see a variety of performances.

Some of the volunteering opportunities we have include:

Front of House – Welcoming audience members, checking tickets, bar staff, acting as Fire Marshals

Support for daytime events – welcoming visitors, serving teas and coffees – we have a host of day time activities bringing lots of visitors to the venue and support for these events is much needed.

Helping with general maintenance – we often run weekend sessions to tidy and maintain our outdoor space – from putting up marquees for an outdoor show to tidying the boarders or helping with spring planting – if you are fit and able to get involved we need you!

Help at external events – we love to be part of events such as the Bedford River Festival where we can promote the venue and talk to the public about our lovely theatre.

Distribution of Flyers – helping us distribute our promotional material around town centre venues.

Tech and Backstage Support – If you have a background in sound or lighting – or are keen to learn – or if you want to just help out backstage with some of our shows – then please do get in touch. This is an area where we really do want to build a team of willing volunteers.

Plus many more opportunities to get involved with the day to day activities at the theatre.
