We have some wonderful news to share — The Place Theatre has been awarded £20,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund through their Awards for All programme, to help fund essential repairs to our roof.
If you’ve been following our fundraising journey, you’ll know that the roof has been one of our biggest challenges in recent years. Leaks and deterioration have caused real disruption to the groups and activities that use our building every week, and the full repair project — costing around £155,000 — has been a significant undertaking for a charity of our size. This grant is a huge step forward.
What happens next?
Thanks to this award, alongside funding already confirmed from The John Apthorp Charity, we’re able to plan work on the most critical sections of the roof. We have additional applications in progress and will keep you updated as the project develops.
Why this matters
The Place Theatre is home to 17 regular community groups, our BRAVE Youth Theatre programme, wellbeing activities, and of course the shows and events you come to see and take part in. Every single one of those things depends on this building being safe, warm, and fit for purpose. Repairing the roof isn’t just maintenance — it’s how we protect everything that makes The Place Theatre what it is.
Thank you
We’re incredibly grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund, and to every person who plays the Lottery — your contributions make grants like this possible and help community organisations like ours keep going.
