We are delighted to announce the installation of a new stairlift, significantly improving accessibility to the building’s first floor rehearsal and community spaces.
The stairlift provides easier access to our first floor facilities, which include rehearsal spaces used by local theatre groups and community organisations. The installation will particularly benefit Deaf Access Bedford, who have office space on the first floor, making their services more accessible to visitors and clients.
This important accessibility enhancement has been made possible thanks to generous funding from The Frank Branston Trust, managed by BLCF. The Trust’s support reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that community spaces remain accessible to all.
“We’re thrilled to have completed this project,” said Lissy Malt, Programming Manager “Accessibility is at the heart of what we do at The Place Bedford, and this stairlift removes a significant barrier for community groups, rehearsal participants, and those accessing vital services like Deaf Access Bedford. We’re incredibly grateful to The Frank Branston Trust for making this possible.” The stairlift is now operational and available for use during all activities
