We’re thrilled to share some brilliant news: The Place Theatre has been awarded £5,514.00 by the Harpur Trust to help us refurbish our accessible toilet facilities.
Making our venue as welcoming and inclusive as possible is something we care about deeply. Every week, our building on Bradgate Road opens its doors to a wonderful range of people – from BRAVE Youth Theatre members and Deaf Access Bedford, to Coffee with Jam regulars, performers, volunteers and audiences from right across Bedford. We want every single person who walks through our doors to feel comfortable, valued and included, and that means making sure our facilities work for everyone.
This grant will fund improvements to our accessible toilet, helping us create a space that is fit for purpose, comfortable and dignified for all who need it. It’s a small but important step in the ongoing work we’re doing to improve access across the venue – following on from the installation of our stairlift, which has already made a real difference for people using our first-floor rehearsal and community spaces.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Harpur Trust for their generous support and for recognising how much this project means to our community.
Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates as the work gets underway.
