Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes to bring a production to life? Or perhaps you've thought about directing but aren't sure where to start?

 

JoinOff The Leash Theatrefounder and director Lorna for an engaging and practical workshop exploring the art of theatre directing. Suitable for aspiring directors, actors interested in the rehearsal process, assistant directors, and anyone curious about how productions are created.

 

Through discussion, exercises, script work, and practical demonstrations, participants will explore the director's role from first reading a script through to opening night. Topics will include script analysis, creating a vision, working with actors, staging and blocking scenes, rehearsal techniques, and the realities of leading a production.

 

Lorna brings a wealth of directing experience, having directed productions ranging from classical theatre and period drama to comedy, pantomime, thrillers, and large-scale ensemble productions. Known for her love of working with large casts and creating ambitious, engaging productions, she combines practical industry knowledge with a collaborative and supportive approach to directing.

 

Whether you're considering directing your first production or looking to develop your existing skills, this workshop offers a friendly and practical introduction to the craft.
