The Place Bedford’s community-led theatre programme is part of our mission to deliver measurable social impact across Bedford town and beyond, through the development of public appreciation of dramatic & operatic art.
Alongside a full season on stage, we run public engagement projects in schools and public spaces, from radio plays to drama classes and intergenerational reading visits. We prioritise removing barriers to participation with accessible formats, and targeted outreach.
This archive shows some of those previous projects.
Each project is shaped with partners, uses co-production, and is evaluated for outcomes in wellbeing, community cohesion, creative skills and employability. Our practice is safeguarding-led, environmentally responsible and digitally inclusive, ensuring culture is available to everyone, wherever they are. Our work with young people includes co-creating work, building skills and helping them gain confidence through youth engagement and volunteer development
